Bursik discussed his recent research showing that volcanic plumes tend to end up in the jetstream and remain there, thus disrupting air traffic. A month-long research cruise on the research vessel, Atlantis, to the Galapagos Spreading Center to investigate exactly how lava erupts at an intermediate spreading-rate mid-ocean ridge. INVOGE (International Geological Masters in Volcanology and Geotechniques) is a dual master's research program that will allow students to pursue an internationally recognized master's degree both at institutions in the United States and abroad.
